Your cheeks should GLOW with the flush of first love everyday.

The compact carries 8 grams worth of product. Notice the 2 colours in the pan? According to the instructions written at the back of the box you should:

a. SWISH the brush around outer shade and apply in on top of your cheekbones then,

b. DIP the tip of the brush in the center colour and pop onto the apples of the cheeks.

If you are applying it for the first time, make sure to use a light hand. The blush is so pigmented that a little dip of the brush will be enough.

2. Film Star Bronze & Glow (Light to Medium)

I believe that amongst the Charlotte Tilbury line, the Filmstar Bronze & Glow was the most raved by ladies around the world. With a promise to achieve that sculpt and highlight that we only see from the Hollywood stars, the Filmstar Bronze & Glow has been considered one of the best things that happened in the makeup world. (Or at least that’s how I see it.)

The pan holds a total of 16 grams worth of product (we can assume that it is 8 grams each).

• Beautiful and luxe packaging.

• The texture was not powdery and this is something that I love about it because I always perspire (hello humidity?!)
• The bronzer gives off a nice color – not too brown and not too orange.

• The highlighter gives off that lovely, healthy glow that doesn’t look too much. And once the light bounces on your face, oh you will feel like one of those VS angels on the runway! :P

  • The bronze and glow lasted for 8 to 9 hours on my face and although at some point I was sweating, the bronzer and highlight did not bulge not felt sticky/muddy.

OVERALL IMPRESSION/S:

These two products did not fail to impress and deliver the quality that was expected from the beginning. This is also the reason why I did not include the price in the disadvantage/cons list because I feel that the quality of the product stood out and the price was justified.

Also with the quantity of the product, even if you use them daily, it will take you some time to hit the pan and buy a new one. So if you will ask me if it is worth it? My answer is a big YES. ;)

No, this is not a movie review.

Last Sunday we watched The Martian, starring Matt Damon and directed by Ridley Scott, and I really enjoyed the film. I won’t be giving away much because I feel that every viewer deserves to see the movie with much curiosity in their minds.

All I can say is that the story is about hope, trust, friendship, acceptance & embracing the reality and making the best out of a bad situation. There are scenes that will give you a good laugh; few moments of “OMG”; scenes that will make you hold your chair and some will appeal to your emotions as a human being. ;)

I hope you give this film a chance and yes, it is nice to watch it with your families and loved ones. :)

As you all know, I am a coffee lover, but I never said that I don’t like tea, right? I usually take my espresso in the morning or afternoon, while I enjoy a cup of tea in the evening (whenever I have stocks at home). 

TWG and Twinings Tea are the top 2 house favourites. It is easier to get hold of the latter brand as it is available in the local groceries, unlike for TWG where you need to visit their store so for your supplies. So last week, I decided to try their online shopping service (thru TWG app).

TWG Mobile App Shopping

First of all, you have to CREATE AN ACCOUNT and you have 2 options to do this:

• thru their WEBSITE or
• you can download their MOBILE APP (available for Apple and Android users)

After you are done creating an account, you can already proceed with your orders. I provided some screenshots of the TWG application below.

All you have to do is to pick the tea of your choice and click the Add to Bag button.

After choosing your orders, just click the Check Out button and you will be sent to the Order Summary page where you can view the details of the products that you wish to purchase.

Once you are sure that you have nothing else to change or add, you can then click the PROCEED TO NEXT STEP button.

SHIPPING DETAILS

This is the step where you will provide your complete mailing address and contact number.

***PLEASE NOTE***

If you will use the TWG app, the minimum amount of purchase will be 100 SGD (free delivery exclusive in Singapore).

PAYMENT DETAILS

Payments are made thru PAYPAL, if you do not have a Paypal account, you do not have to worry because you can use the service as a GUEST and all you have to do is provide your credit card details.

After you have completed the payment, Paypal will automatically send you a confirmation email for the payment made. In my case, after I received the confirmation from Paypal, I also received the confirmation email from TWG.

Delivery 

Despite the order confirmation that you will receive from them, you must also wait for the SHIPPING CONFIRMATION. This email will inform you that your orders are on the way and a TRACKING NUMBER will be provided, too.

Based from my experience, here is a bulleted summary for your reference:

October 11 (Sunday)

• I placed my orders

October 13 (Tuesday)

• I sent a follow-up email just to check the status of my order in the afternoon (around 2 pm)
• 20 minutes after, I received a response from the TWG team confirming that my orders are for collection by the local freight forwarder

Customer Service  – 5/5

• I am VERY SATISFIED with their customer service. They handle their customers well and respond to my query in a timely manner.
• I also love the fact that they provide a PERSONALISED service to their clients. It seems that they analyse their customer’s taste and they try to recommend other flavours based on the recent purchase.

Will you use their service again?

• YES.

Will you recommend it?

• Definitely. :)

RECOMMENDATION:

Note that the store and online prices are the same. But if you are far from the store locations or if you have a busy schedule and you do not have the time to drop by their stores, then ordering online is a good option to look at. :)

Its doe foot applicator is slimmer compared to the normal size.

1. Fleur

Fleur is a beige nude shade and I like how it pays off when applied on the lips. This is the nude lip color that can be worn every day.

2. Secret

Secret is dark burgundy red shade and it reminds me of Lime Crime Velvetine’s Wicked.

PROs:

• I bought these from the last Beauty Fair/Roadshow held at the mall near where I live, and they were priced at 11.90 SGD per tube (sold at $5 in the US). Each tube brings you 0.17 fl. oz (5g) worth of lip product.

AVAILABILITY

• these can be found online (thru Carousell SG with price ranging from 11-13 SGD plus mailing fee ) or in
• beauty fairs/roadshows.

PERFORMANCE

• No particular smell and taste
• Opaque and Highly-Pigmented
• Intense color pay off
• flat matte velvety finish
• No bleeding on my lip line
• Minimal transfer – (I tested my cup)
• It does not dry as quick as Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip, so you have time to apply them properly.

CONs:

Not long-wearing enough

• Despite the minimal transfer when I tested the product, I noticed that inner, middle part of my lips became patchy after I sipped my drink directly from the cup and unconsciously pressed my lips together.
• I also noticed that it became a little powdery.

Buildable, BUT…

• it may feel a bit thick if you put more than 2 coats.

Before I end this review, here are some of the tips and tricks that you may find useful when applying flat matte lipsticks.

Berry’s Useful Tips:

1. Exfoliate and moisturize your lips.
2. Use lip balm (before applying and after removing).
3. Use a lip liner to avoid “bleeding” on the lip line.
4. Shake the tube first and use a lip brush to apply the lip product.
   • This helps you apply the lipstick EVENLY.
5. Lastly, do not put too much product on your lips.

Chicken Up has landed in the Northeast! Yes, they just opened their 24-hour store this month and it is near the Buangkok MRT Station. Their location was where the former Wendy’s store used to be. When we found out about this new food joint, we promised ourselves to give it a try the following day.

The Ambiance

The place basically offers an informal dining set up. In my opinion, the atmosphere would attract the younger target market such as a group of student/friends who want to eat together.

Each square table can sit up to four people, but that may be a little crowded especially when you place your orders arrive. The counter faces the main door. There were 2 cashiers, but that time when we ordered only one was open so the queue was a bit long.

Berry’s Tips:

• Upon entering, make sure that you grab the copy of their menu placed on the left most side of the counter.

• Browse and list down all your orders before queueing.

• Give your orders to the staff who writes them down in a piece of paper.

There are 2 stations for:

1. paper plates
2. plastic spoons/forks/knife
3. plastic gloves (for those who wants to eat their chicken using their hands) and

Soy-flavored Wings (12 SGD)

Aside from the big serving, their chicken has a crunchy coating while the white meat remained to juicy inside. The taste is different from what KFC, Popeyes, and Texas offers. You can taste the hints of spices used when they prepared the chicken.

By the way, you can choose from the 4 flavours that they offer:

• Original
• Soya (salty)
• Yangnyum (sweet)
• Spicy (hot)

A 4-piece chicken order can be enough for two people, considering that you will get other items from their menu, say fries or noodles.

2. Noodles

Spicy Noodles Up with soup (10 SGD)

The Spicy Noodles Up reminded us of the instant noodles that we can buy from the grocery stores. However, this one is spicier (at least for me) compared to those instant noodles and they serve it with egg & extra steamy.

Japchae (12 SGD)

As for the Japchae, I liked the glass noodles because it was soft and did not feel too chewy or rubbery (unlike in my previous experience from other Korean restaurants). It was not bland nor salty – it was just about right. However, it would be better if they can add a little more glass noodles because I felt that my order had more onions and bell peppers than the glass noodles.

3. Drinks

For our drinks, we ordered two of their Demi Soda Apple (4 SGD/can) which is a carbonated drink in a can and one Korean Wild Berry Slush (6 SGD).

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS:

 In summary, here is what I think about Chicken Up based on my experience in this restaurant:

FOOD – 4 / 5

• The presentation and taste of their food are good.
• They are served fresh and hot which is a major factor for me.
• Serving size
  • Generous servings; one order of chicken is already good for two people.

PRICE – 4/5

• No service charge.

CUSTOMER SERVICE – 3.5/5

• Their staffs are attentive and approachable.

Will I go back? 

• YES, especially when I try their fries! But because of the small space available, it can easily get crowded typically on dinner time and weekends. So to fully enjoy the food, maybe we will have a take-out/take-away next time.

Will you recommend it? 

• Definitely.

This is my second review of Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks. The first one was for Redrum & Anna Nicole and you can read the full review here.

For today, let’s discuss Celebrity Skin and Unicorn Blood. :)

PACKAGING

Each lipstick comes in a pink box with rose-gold stars printed in front (as seen in the photo). The name of the shade is printed on a sticker and pasted at the top cover of the box.

These liquid lipsticks are placed in a transparent, and high-end looking plastic tubes with a pink cap and rose-gold stars are printed on them. The brand name is also printed in rose-gold foil and positioned in front of each bottle.

The name of the shade is printed on a pink sticker and pasted at the bottom of each tube.

“LOCK FEATURE”

I personally like this sort of feature, if I may call it that way. Closing and having that “click” sound/feel when you close the cap gives you a sense of security.

Applicator/Wand

As I mentioned in my previous review, I like Jeffree Star’s wand because it is longer applicator (compared to Lime Crime’s) and has a wider end which makes it easier to use and glide on the lips when applying the product.

For your reference, I am NC25 in MAC Pro Longwear Foundation.

1. CELEBRITY SKIN

Jeffree Star describes this as soft brown nude with a peachy undertone. Amongst the nude lipsticks that I have, this is my top favourite as this is the most wearable on broad daylight. Yes! You can definitely rock this out without looking too pale.

In this photo: I was only wearing MAC Lightful Tinted Cream,
NARS Blush in Orgasm, ABH Brow Wiz (Medium Brown) and JS Celebrity Skin. 

The nice thing about this shade is as if it imitates the natural colour of your lips – very natural. I wore it several times when I was out for dinner. It may fade a little, after meals and drinks, but it is unnoticeable from another person’s perspective.

I am so happy that I got hold of this shade and it has been my go-to nude since I bought it.

2. UNICORN BLOOD

Described as dark, rusty red, Unicorn Blood is almost similar to Lime Crime’s Wicked. In my opinion, Wicked is darker and Unicorn Blood has a better formula (Overall, Jeffree Star is better.) Unicorn Blood has similarities with L.A Girl’s Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in Secret though Secret appeared redder.

• Each Velour Liquid Lipstick is sold at 18 USD. 
• There is a limit of 2 lipsticks per shade per customer. I think it is a reasonable policy so everyone has a fair chance of getting all the other shades that they wish to have.

OVERALL:

PROs:

• These liquid lipsticks very opaque and pigmented; 1-2 swipes will be enough. 
• Easy to use and apply
• Long lasting/long wearing
  • I used Celebrity Skin when we had a dinner date and coffee but up until we got home, my lipstick was all good. It faded a little, but there is no need to retouch.
  • It doesn’t crumble or becomes powdery, unlike other flat matte lipsticks that I tried.
• It feels so light on the lips as if you are not wearing lipstick at all.
• No feathering even without using a lip liner and despite having meals.
• Kiss-proof.
• Very minimal transfer (as seen on coffee cups and drinking glasses)
• Made in the USA.
• 100% Cruelty-free products.
• Scent-free and ha discernible taste.

  1. You can buy directly from their website and the international shipping (via USPS) costs 10.95 USD.
  2. If you do not want to buy directly from the company, you can check CAROUSELL for local sellers and these beauties are sold from 34 SGD each. I got mine from Pingbong.
